A Celebration of Seafarers’ Dedication

In celebration of the Day of the Filipino Seafarer 2025, the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) held a successful Job Fair in Manila, drawing more than 2,000 jobseekers from across the maritime sector. The event underscored the enduring global demand for Filipino maritime professionals and reaffirmed their vital role in international shipping.

Commitment to Workforce Development

The MARINA Job Fair forms part of the agency’s continued commitment to strengthening the country’s maritime workforce. The initiative supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., who has called for greater focus on employment generation and skills development—ensuring that the maritime sector continues to drive economic growth and uphold the welfare of seafarers.

MARINA reiterated that the Filipino seafarer remains among the most sought-after and respected maritime professionals in the world, reflecting the country’s long-standing reputation for excellence at sea.

Job Fair Partnerships and Opportunities

Conducted in partnership with the ALMA Maritime Group, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and several licensed manning agencies, the one-day job fair featured 20 accredited recruitment partners offering around 1,100 shipboard vacancies. Opportunities ranged from cadetship and entry-level roles to senior officer positions, reflecting a broad spectrum of employment prospects across the maritime industry.

A Testament to Industry Confidence

The overwhelming turnout served as a testament to both the resilience of Filipino seafarers and the continued confidence of global employers in their expertise. The event also highlighted MARINA’s collaborative approach—bridging government, private stakeholders, and jobseekers to sustain the Philippines’ reputation as the “Seafaring Capital of the World.”

As the maritime community celebrated the Day of the Filipino Seafarer, the job fair stood as a meaningful reminder that the nation’s maritime strength lies not just in its fleet, but in the dedication of its people.
