U.S. Releases Iranian Seafarers, Moves to Seize Tankers
The United States has released six Iranian seafarers who were previously held after their vessel was intercepted during ongoing maritime operations linked to the blockade on Iran. The crew were reportedly onboard a container ship that had been seized by U.S. forces amid rising tensions in the region.
Iranian officials confirmed that the six crew members were returned to Iran on April 29 following diplomatic efforts. However, reports indicate that several other crew members from the same vessel remain under U.S. control, showing that the situation is still unresolved.

Despite the release of the seafarers, the United States continues to hold control of the intercepted vessels. Authorities are now moving forward with legal action, with the U.S. Department of Justice seeking forfeiture of at least two tankers believed to be linked to Iranian oil shipments.
These developments are part of wider enforcement efforts tied to the ongoing maritime blockade, where multiple vessels suspected of carrying Iranian oil have been intercepted, redirected, or seized in recent weeks. The actions have increased tensions at sea, with both sides taking measures that affect commercial shipping operations.
