Maritime Industry Authority and Philippine Navy Strengthen Partnership for Maritime Governance and Safety

The Maritime Industry Authority and the Philippine Navy reinforced their commitment to stronger maritime governance and operational coordination during a high-level meeting held on 12 May 2026 at the Philippine Navy Compound in Manila. The engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between maritime regulatory and defense institutions in addressing the evolving demands of the Philippine maritime sector.

Acting under the direction of Sonia B. Malaluan, MARINA representatives led by Deputy Administrator for Operations Loumer P. Bernabe paid a courtesy call on Jose Ma. Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta. The meeting served as a platform for both agencies to exchange ideas and discuss strategies aimed at improving maritime safety, regulatory enforcement, and institutional development.

A key focus of the discussions was the enhancement of MARINA’s operational capabilities, particularly in the areas of intelligence gathering, monitoring, inspection, and maritime investigations. Both parties explored ways to strengthen the technical knowledge and readiness of MARINA personnel involved in compliance and enforcement activities.
