Maritime Industry Authority and Philippine Navy Strengthen Partnership for Maritime Governance and Safety

The Maritime Industry Authority and the Philippine Navy reinforced their commitment to stronger maritime governance and operational coordination during a high-level meeting held on 12 May 2026 at the Philippine Navy Compound in Manila. The engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between maritime regulatory and defense institutions in addressing the evolving demands of the Philippine maritime sector.

Acting under the direction of Sonia B. Malaluan, MARINA representatives led by Deputy Administrator for Operations Loumer P. Bernabe paid a courtesy call on Jose Ma. Ambrosio Q. Ezpeleta. The meeting served as a platform for both agencies to exchange ideas and discuss strategies aimed at improving maritime safety, regulatory enforcement, and institutional development.

The dialogue also included discussions on the implementation of the MARINA Voyage Plan 2028, with Deputy Administrator Bernabe seeking valuable insights from the Philippine Navy’s experience in carrying out its Sail Plan 2040. The exchange emphasized the Navy’s achievements in strategic planning, organizational transformation, and governance, offering MARINA practical perspectives that may help guide its own long-term development initiatives.
