All 38 Filipino Seafarers Aboard MV Hondius Test Negative, Remain Under Observation in the Netherlands
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) confirmed that all 38 Filipino seafarers aboard MV Hondius tested negative for Hantavirus and are currently undergoing continuous health monitoring and quarantine procedures in the Netherlands.
Speaking during a press briefing at NAIA Terminal 1 on Friday, May 15, 2026, DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac said that 21 Filipino crew members are already in the Netherlands and remain under medical observation. The remaining 17 Filipino seafarers who are still onboard the vessel are expected to arrive in Rotterdam on May 18, 2026, where they will also undergo testing and quarantine protocols upon arrival.
Secretary Cacdac stated that all crew members tested so far have shown negative results, with no reported symptoms at this time. He also noted that the incoming crew members arriving in Rotterdam will continue to be closely assessed by medical authorities.

The DMW further assured that health and safety measures remain in place onboard the vessel while it continues its voyage to Rotterdam. Medical teams onboard are reportedly maintaining strict monitoring procedures and providing the necessary support to the Filipino crew members.
The DMW, together with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Philippine Embassy officials, continues to coordinate efforts to monitor the condition of the seafarers and extend assistance to both the crew and their families.
