The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) continues its heightened monitoring of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, as authorities work to ensure the safety and welfare of Filipino seafarers operating in the region.
As of May 25, 2026, a total of 59 vessels carrying 1,834 Filipino seafarers have safely crossed the Strait of Hormuz from April to May this year. The monitored vessels include oil tankers, cargo ships, container vessels, and other commercial ships navigating one of the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.

The DMW is also closely monitoring 17 additional vessels expected to transit the area on May 25, carrying nearly 300 Filipino crew members onboard. According to the Department, continuous coordination remains ongoing with shipping companies, licensed manning agencies, and concerned government agencies to provide real-time monitoring, communication, and immediate assistance when necessary.
The agency assured that support services and assistance mechanisms remain available for affected seafarers and their families amid the evolving security situation in the region.
