A passenger vessel conducting a diving expedition in the waters off Palawan ran aground at Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park on June 15, prompting a response from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). According to authorities, all passengers and crew members were reported safe, and no injuries or pollution incidents have been observed.

The vessel was carrying 28 people and had been on a multi-day dive voyage in the area. Initial reports indicated that the vessel was secured to a mooring buoy several nautical miles from the reef before adverse weather conditions affected its position.

Authorities said a sudden squall developed during the early morning hours, causing the vessel to drift and eventually run aground within the protected marine park. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under assessment as relevant agencies continue their investigation.

The Philippine Coast Guard immediately coordinated response efforts and deployed support assets to the area. A number of crew members remained aboard the vessel to monitor its condition while authorities evaluated potential environmental impacts and planned the next steps for recovery operations.

Officials emphasized that no signs of fuel leakage or marine pollution had been detected following the grounding. Environmental monitoring measures have also been initiated due to the ecological significance of Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, a protected marine area recognized for its rich biodiversity.

Maritime authorities are expected to continue assessing the vessel's condition and determining the safest method for refloating and removal. Further updates are anticipated as response operations progress and investigators complete their findings.
