In the maritime industry, ship visits are often associated with inspections, audits, and operational reviews. Sometimes, however, the most meaningful part of stepping onboard is not checking procedures but reconnecting with the people who live and work at sea. That was exactly the spirit behind VMSC personnel’s recent visit to M/V CNC PILIPINAS, one of the CMA CGM vessels manned entirely by Filipino seafarers. The visit provided an opportunity to spend time with the crew, observe their workplace firsthand, and gain a deeper understanding of the realities of life at sea. Walking through the bridge, engine room, accommodation, and deck areas gave the shore team a renewed appreciation of the professionalism, discipline, and teamwork required to safely operate a container vessel.

While procedures and compliance remain essential, the people behind every operation continue to be the company’s greatest priority. As part of the visit, the officers and crew gathered for a safety meeting focused on reinforcing CMA CGM’s standards and expectations. Discussions emphasized the importance of complying with the company’s Quality and Safety Management System, following permit-to-work requirements, observing safe working practices, and maintaining the highest level of professionalism in every task performed onboard. The meeting also highlighted CMA CGM’s unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace built on respect and dignity. Crew members were reminded of the company’s zero-tolerance policy against bullying, harassment, discrimination, and any form of inappropriate behavior, reinforcing that safety is not only about preventing physical harm but also about creating a healthy and respectful working environment where everyone feels valued.
To make the gathering more personal, the VMSC Team brought donuts and simple tokens of appreciation for the crew. Although modest in value, these gestures were warmly received and served as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can brighten a seafarer’s day, especially during long months away from home. Conversations became more relaxed, smiles were shared, and the meeting felt less like a formal briefing and more like a meaningful reunion between the shore team and the people they proudly support. The visit also provided an opportunity to share the latest updates from VMSC, including ongoing initiatives, company developments, and programs designed to continuously strengthen the welfare and support provided to its seafarers.

Perhaps the most valuable part of the visit, however, was simply listening. The officers and crew openly shared their experiences, observations, operational suggestions, and concerns, with every question and piece of feedback reflecting their commitment to improving shipboard life and operations. VMSC assured the crew that these concerns would not end with the meeting but would be properly relayed to the appropriate departments for review and action. For many seafarers, months at sea can create a sense of distance from the offices ashore. Visits like these help bridge that gap by reinforcing that behind every email, deployment, or operational decision are people who genuinely care about the welfare, safety, and success of those serving onboard.

As the visit came to an end, one thing became clear: the strongest maritime organizations are built not only on procedures and compliance but also on trust, communication, and genuine human connection. For Virtue Maritime Services Corp., every ship visit is an opportunity to reaffirm that commitment by supporting its seafarers not only as employees but as valued members of one maritime family. To the Master, officers, and crew of M/V CNC PILIPINAS, thank you for the warm welcome, the open conversations, and your unwavering professionalism. Fair winds and following seas ahead. Until our next visit, we are stronger, together.
