MANILA — The Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) is celebrating International Youth Day 2026 today, August 14, bringing together young seafarers and transport workers under the theme “Empower Young Transport Workers!”
The gathering provides a meaningful platform for young participants to learn, connect, and strengthen their role in the maritime and transport sectors. The program features discussions on discovering one’s purpose, faith, leadership, professional development, and the importance of greater youth participation in the industry.
Highlighting the event is the presence of Dr. Conrado F. Oca, President of AMOSUP-PTGWO-ITF and 1st Vice Chair of the ITF Seafarers’ Section, who graced the celebration and delivered a message to the youth. His participation reflects AMOSUP’s continuing commitment to supporting and empowering the next generation of maritime and transport professionals.
Another significant part of the celebration is the re-launch of the ITF Young Seafarers’ Network, an initiative aimed at strengthening youth engagement, representation, and participation within the maritime community. The network provides young seafarers with a platform to connect, share perspectives, and become more actively involved in issues affecting their profession and future.
Through International Youth Day 2026 and initiatives such as the ITF Young Seafarers’ Network, AMOSUP continues to invest in the development of young workers, providing opportunities to build their skills, strengthen connections, and contribute meaningfully to a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future for the maritime and transport industries.
