Maritime Research Forum 2026 Successfully Concluded, Highlighting Studies for Seafarer Welfare and Industry Development

MANILA — The Maritime Research Forum 2026 successfully concluded on September 15, 2026, at Diamond Hotel Manila, gathering maritime industry partners, researchers, government agencies, training institutions, manning agencies, and other stakeholders to discuss research initiatives supporting Filipino seafarers and the maritime sector.

Organized by the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) under the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the forum provided a platform for sharing research findings, insights, and recommendations aimed at improving maritime programs, policies, and services for seafarers and industry stakeholders.

The event featured discussions on key maritime concerns, including seafarers’ health and well-being, mental health, women in maritime, maritime education and training, workforce development, and maritime data and information systems.

The forum also presented updates on the Maritime Research, Education and Training Summit (MRETS) Indicative Action Plan and the Philippine Maritime Workforce Factbook (PMWF) Portal, highlighting efforts to strengthen maritime research and improve access to industry information.

Through the participation of various maritime stakeholders, the Maritime Research Forum 2026 emphasized the importance of research-driven initiatives in developing programs and services that support Filipino seafarers and contribute to the continued growth of the Philippine maritime industry.
