The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continued search and rescue operations following the fire onboard MV June Aster in the waters off Coron, Palawan, on September 9, 2026.

PCG Spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab reported that as of 11:10 p.m., 42 individuals had been rescued, while five casualties were initially reported. The casualties were brought to the Barangay Turda Covered Court in Coron.

The five casualties are set to be turned over to the Coron Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office for proper disposition.

The Coast Guard District Palawan and other responding units continue systematic search operations in the surrounding waters. Further figures remain subject to official confirmation as the operation continues.
