The 31st National Seafarers’ Day came to a successful close on September 27, 2026, at the PNB Financial Center in Pasay City, concluding this year’s National Maritime Week celebration. The event highlighted the importance of Filipino seafarers and their vital role in the maritime industry.
The closing ceremony brought together maritime officials, government agencies, industry leaders, organizations, seafarers, and other stakeholders. Among the activities were the Grand Parade, Holy Mass, messages of support, recognition ceremonies, and the traditional Passing of the Torch.
A significant moment of the celebration was the formal turnover of the torch from the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The ceremony represented the continuation of the shared responsibility and commitment to organizing and leading the next National Maritime Week and National Seafarers’ Day.
The successful observance served as a meaningful tribute to Filipino seafarers, recognizing their dedication, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions to the Philippine maritime sector and the global shipping industry. It also strengthened the spirit of unity among the various sectors of the maritime community.
With the torch now entrusted to the PCG, the maritime community looks forward to another meaningful celebration in 2027. The occasion stands as a reminder of the continuing commitment to recognize, honor, and support the men and women who serve at sea.
