Oil tankers continue to navigate the Strait of Hormuz under heightened security risks, with some vessels reportedly making nighttime crossings without navigation lights, mobile phones, or AIS while relying on limited radar and traditional navigation techniques.

A tanker captain said the vessel had to maneuver around another ship that came under attack by drones or missiles while transiting the strategic waterway. Commercial vessels in the area are reportedly following coordinated transit routes and maintaining regular communication with U.S. forces, which have been providing security assistance and protection during passage through the high-risk zone.

The captain, a Filipino seafarer, said crews remain prepared for possible attacks, using additional personnel on the bridge, emergency firefighting equipment, and other precautions.

Despite the risks, millions of barrels of oil continue to move through the waterway, highlighting the dangerous conditions faced by seafarers keeping vital energy supplies flowing.
